Things I Still Need to Know
I’m a curious fellow
Or so I’ve been told,
Just a big, goofy poet
That’s trying to get old.
I’m finding a blessing
Under nearly every stone
And with my loving, dear, dear wife
I’m happy here at home.
My mind takes me on journeys
From here to the absurd
As I ponder wondrous stories
That may never be heard.
There’s a fine line near crazy
Where I prop up my feet
And smile at my world’s follies
As I skip along to life's beat.
There’s more to this living
Than some kind of race
The finish line is final
So slow down your pace.
I love my life as each day rolls on by
The end is something I don’t need
I’ve found some peace in a simple life
But yes… when I’m wounded I still bleed.
I know for certain deep in my soul
The past is gone and lost
So I don’t give a damn for what’s behind
For those pains I’ve already paid the cost.
My morning mirror paints the picture
With graying hair and lines
But with all the future can bring to me
I want to live just enough time. ..to shine.
There’s way too many distractions
But I’m loving these…my days
Writing my life down; like the madman I am
And wondering still…. Should I change my ways?
There are places I need to wander
And still things I’d like to know
But when I’m finally gone, I ponder
Where does all I know …..go? -- BM

Thoughts for a Sunday Afternoon
God knows I’m not near the man
I’d hoped to be by now.
The lines trace their way across my face
But, perhaps, kindly frame my Cheshire smile.
My tragedies and comedies collide
Like wind and tumbleweeds
They’re two partners that bring to life
The best you see in me.
I thank my God for these small blessings
And ask for nothing more.
Whenever I’m seem drowning along the way
God washes me to shore.
Nothing seems to slow my step
The smiles visit my face each and every day
My life is in good hands with Christ’s gentle hand
just leading me in His way.
I’m better than I’ve ever been
And have so far to go.
Life is so much clearer now
I’m glad I caught this show.
So lift me up, brighten my day
And let me see my days ahead
This parade of life is so much fun
I needn’t wait in bed.
I’d hoped to be by now.
The lines trace their way across my face
But, perhaps, kindly frame my Cheshire smile.
My tragedies and comedies collide
Like wind and tumbleweeds
They’re two partners that bring to life
The best you see in me.

Sum of It All
Praise be for all these passing years
what’ve earned me lofty smarts.
Far beyond all my voluminous hot air,
time just seems to cause me farts.
what’ve earned me lofty smarts.
Far beyond all my voluminous hot air,
time just seems to cause me farts.
Boundaries of Goodness
Standing in dark shadows will never attract
the jewels in life’s crown that fall through the cracks.
Sparkle and dazzle may cause you to gaze
when a glance would do nicely through the thick haze.
So break through the darkness with your brilliance and light
Discover your passions and try to do right.
There’s greatness within us if we try to find
The boundaries of goodness and then draw a line.
the jewels in life’s crown that fall through the cracks.
Sparkle and dazzle may cause you to gaze
when a glance would do nicely through the thick haze.
So break through the darkness with your brilliance and light
Discover your passions and try to do right.
There’s greatness within us if we try to find
The boundaries of goodness and then draw a line.
ME
Of all that I can think of,
and all I hope to be,
the sum of my whole lifetime
is what now you see in me.
and all I hope to be,
the sum of my whole lifetime
is what now you see in me.
Alcona Coffee Company Cowboy
I’d like me a cuppa coffee, Eddie,
with cream and much caffeine,
cause I’m an Alcona cowboy
that’s always been my dream.
with cream and much caffeine,
cause I’m an Alcona cowboy
that’s always been my dream.
Mountains Make Me High
I travel far and live full my life
with hopes and thrills and my dear wife.
I’ve seen the demons and fought back fears,
learned to listen and not just hear.
I hope I’m better, but just can’t say.
To judge thy self takes a fool they say.
If a laugh is power, then a god I be,
as I head for the high ground so I might see.
There are bites of life I have yet to taste.
Not a moment of this madness I want to waste.
I click my heels at another day,
and dance with my demons I hope to slay.
with hopes and thrills and my dear wife.
I’ve seen the demons and fought back fears,
learned to listen and not just hear.
I hope I’m better, but just can’t say.
To judge thy self takes a fool they say.
